I love both. I’m good at both. I gravitate more towards art but I spend a lot of time in nature and read science magazines from the library.
I hear you about making space.
My younger daughter has her very own table for art. I used to have her art stuff on her school desk, and she started really hating school because she had to clean up beforehand. It was worth giving her space in the house for her passion. She does her art in her spare time, so I never had to worry about making school time for it.
My older daughter has done dissections out in the garage on an old card table bought at a yard sale – the table was already terribly beat up and only cost two bucks. The only disadvantage was she once had to wave her scalpel at some crows to discourage them from trying to eat her dead critter. Yes, we set aside a good long chunk of time to get the dissections done.
